09/05/2017 Joensuu: Lukkarila homes
We visited Lukkarila homes on 9th May 2017. There were two teachers with thirteen students: Sari Manninen and Anu Kotilainen. We left from our school Joensuun lyseon lukio at 12.40 by bus to Paihola. Our destination was Lukkarila homes. It is a place where protection seekers can live. It also offers help with social integration for them.
In Lukkarila homes we met Nina Kokkonen. She works as a responsible counselor for young protection seekers in Lukkarila homes. She told us about their everyday life here in Finland. We learned that some young protection seekers live in the group home and they can go to finnish school.
It was nice to hear about the protection seekers’ life from an expert. The visit was very interesting and we enjoyed it.
